depending on you feed size and hardness of rock, look at high chrome hammers or hammers with ceramic inserts. Each hammer type has it’s application. High chrome hammers, give you excellent wear properties, but are brittle, meaning a hard impact from some manganese teeth off an excavator, a metal bolt, or very hard rock will shatter the hammers, where low chrome hammers absorb the impact. Generally for high chrome hammers you’d want to keep a constant feed rate and relatively constant feed size.
